My First Blog!
We stared out in 2005 when we bought a little farm. The first few years were pretty rough. The home had not been lived in for two years prior. The pasture was waist high in scrubby grass and the fences were...well...non existent! My husband, Dale, and our four kids,(yes FOUR kids) spent many long days working nearly around the clock to even make our little farmhouse liveable. We immediately began raising hogs and chickens. Our horses that we had been boarding now roamed the property mostly hanging out on the lawn..due to lack of fencing! The first year was rough, didn't I already say that?! Now, almost nine years later I can honestly say...We almost made it! Life on a farm is always fun, frustrating and comical.
My goal for this blog is to educate and maybe entertain a little. Since my husband Dale and I both have full-time jobs, farming is done after work and on weekends.As our flock of chickens grows and our garden expands so does the work load. It is very
rewarding to see the dog's tails wagging, the horses grazing, the hens pecking and the garden bursting at the seams. I hope to post at least
one blog each week and maybe several a week depending on how much time I
